About Us
Integrative Companion Care, Practiced with Integrity
We offer a holistic approach to animal wellness that focuses on the pet as a whole. This includes preventative medicine, wellness care, behavior evaluations, nutrition analysis, and treatment of injuries or illnesses both acute and chronic. By adhering to the philosophy of the whole pet approach, you can rest assured your beloved companion is in the best hands with Whole Life Veterinary Care.

Whole Life Veterinary Care was started with you & your pet in mind. There are so many reasons to bring the veterinarian into your home: Thinking of the many cats get stressed out in the carrier or car ride, the dogs who have mobility issues or don't do well at the hospital, and the humans who cannot or don't have time to bring their pets to a veterinary hospital. Also, by being in the pet's own environment we are able to better assess their lives.

Whole Life Veterinary Care merged with Rancho San Carlos Pet Clinic to provide in hospital treatments such as anesthetic procedures, dentistry, ultrasonography, and more. Mobile appointments are available with Dr. Halsey and Dr. Basso through Rancho San Carlos Pet Clinic.

About Dr. Halsey
Dr. Laura Halsey grew up in San Diego and was inspired to become a veterinarian as a way to combine her love of animals and science with her passion for wanting to create positive change. After graduating UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 she returned to San Diego to complete a rigorous internship in emergency and specialty medicine. Dr. Halsey proceeded to general practice in order to not just focus on pets during their time of need, but also for preventative and follow up care. During these years it became apparent that traditional medicine was not always enough to help her patients, especially in their senior years. Dr. Halsey spent a year becoming trained and certified in veterinary acupuncture and incorporated this into her general practice.Â
In 2019, Dr. Halsey purchased Rancho San Carlos Pet Clinic and merged the two practices to provide in home and in hospital veterinary care.Â
Dr. Halsey shares her home with her husband, two young children, two dogs (Huxley & Nellie), and ancient cat (Annie is 20 years old).
About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the practice of using needles to activate the nervous system. This activation can affect responses in the immune system, pain response, blood flow, and hormone levels. The endorphins and hormones released by the treatment bring balance to the body and reduce inflammation. Acupuncture can be used for muscle spasm and acute injury such as intervertebral disc disease, chronic pain such as osteoarthritis, regulation of the immune system for allergies and more.

There are many benefits to having acupuncture performed in the comfort of your own home. There are no unpleasant hospital smells, wait times, or anxious car rides. Your appointment time starts at the time you schedule it.
